Dress in Purple on Wednesday, 27th November

This Wednesday, 27th November is Mrs Liz Lofthouse’s birthday.  To mark her special day and to honour her memory, everyone is encouraged to come dressed in her favourite colour-purple! Bring along a gold coin donation, which will go towards the $1 000 pledged each year by the school for the children at Metta Geha. Most of you would have seen the recent post on the St Dominic’s Facebook page about the work being completed on the Liz Lofthouse Library. Money raised by our school over the last few years has helped to make this project a reality.

Following discussions amongst the P&F and staff, it has been decided that the new Senior Nature Play Space and fort will be named after Liz. ‘The Loft House’ is a perfect name and one which the students will no doubt use frequently. “I’ll meet you at the Loft House!”

Ex-student, Daniel Ledger has been given the task of designing and creating the name plaque which will be permanently attached and displayed in the area. Thank you also, to Helen Hogan who kindly sourced and donated a beautiful piece of wood for Daniel to work with. We are lucky to have so many generous and clever people in our community!

There will also be a slight change to the Christian Leadership award presented at the Graduation/ Thanksgiving mass each year. Liz’s parents kindly donated several hardcopies of her recent republishing of her book, Ziba Came on a Boat. These will be used for prizes in the years to come and will be presented to a student who demonstrates the qualities of someone with Christian leadership. The legacy which Mrs Lofthouse left behind will be acknowledged and remembered with fondness.
