2018 Swimming Lessons Proposal and Feedback Form

posted Jul 20, 2017, 12:00 AM by Principal account
We have been investigating and looking at different options with regards to the swimming lesson program that is offered here at St Dominic's School at the the beginning of each school year.

Over the past year, we have investigated different pools in our area and alternative companies. A lot of the feedback we have received is that RARE Indigo, the company we currently work with, is highly regarded for the program they run and the support and flexibility they provide. RARE Indigo does, however, only operate out of the Claremont Swimming Pool.

An option we are current looking at through RARE Indigo, which we are seeking your feedback on, is the possibility of adding a beach component to the program for our Year 3 to 6 students. The program offered by RARE Indigo is one that they have used with several schools in our area for a number of years. In our initial discussions about this option, we believe that, with our close proximity to the beach and an understanding that many students frequent beaches during the summer, this program may help develop skills that are extremely advantageous, especially in our context.

The program would not come at an additional cost and would be structured as follows:

- Year 1 & Year 2 at the Claremont Swimming Pool for ten days
- Year 3 & Year 4 at the Claremont Swimming Pool for five days then five days at a local calm and safe beach
- Year 5 & Year 6 at a local calm and safe beach for 10 days

Students would still be levelled according to their ability and the swimming stages previously achieved.

Your feedback and thoughts about the above proposal would be greatly appreciated, as it will assist us in making an informed decision. A booking for 2018 will need to be made in the very near future, so we ask that the form is completed no later than Friday 4th August 2017.
