P&F Update - Week 5

Welcome Sundowner/ Bush Dance - What a wonderful start to the year with Year 2 hosting the Mucky Duck Bush Dance. Angela and the Year 2 parents put in a lot of planning to make the event run smoothly and a wonderful afternoon was had by all! They also manned the selling tables with an overwhelming response from our call out for help. It was a great way to meet some new faces and a big thanks to the teachers and their families who gave up their Saturday afternoon to spend at school and Mrs Capriotti who put forward the idea a few years ago to the P&F. We are so grateful to be part of such a wonderful school community and the sprinklers coming on at the end made every kids night. To see some photos from the event click here.

Grill'd Fundraiser - Winner, winner chicken dinner! A huge thanks to Tania one of our Year 1 class reps who contacted Grill’d Scarborough to be a part of their Local Matters Prize Draw. We were voted as the winners for December and won $300 for the school. A special mention to two Year 1 boys who stood at the voting token table and asked a Year 7 graduating class to vote for St Dominic's School to get us over the line! Great effort!

Easter – We are excited to announce we are holding a hot cross bun drive this year with $2 from every pack sold going to the school. Tania Seddon from Year 1 is co-ordinating this for our school, so when you see the forms come round in the next couple of weeks please ask your family and friends if they would like any. The variety is amazing from Bakers Delight in Innaloo and we are grateful to Joe the owner supporting our school.

Easter Hampers and Raffles – In the next couple of weeks we will be asking for Easter Egg donations and baskets to hold our Annual Easter Egg Raffle in conjunction with our Easter Bonnet Parade. More details to come soon, however, if you have purchased some eggs and don’t think they may last until Easter (they just released Oreo eggs which won’t last in our house) we are happily accepting donations. If you would like to come down and watch, the Easter Bonnet Parade will be held on Thursday 6th April at 2pm in the School Hall.

Lapathon/ Colour Run – Our big fundraising event this year is a lapathon/ colour run. We are looking for some parents to help out a small team to raise funds for our biggest event this year. Kindy has nominated to run this event, however, we want to support them as much as possible with this large event. Most of the co-ordinating can be done via email with a couple of small meetings at the start to get a plan together. We would really appreciate any help that the team of Michelle Haagman and the Kindy parents can get. Plus we promise to let you throw any colour you like at your child during the run….. Please see Michelle or contact the P&F on pandf@stdominics.wa.edu.au

P&F Funds/ Next P&F Meeting - Finally, we all work very hard throughout the year to raise money to purchase resources for our kids and to assist the school in providing the children with the best possible education and experience at St Dominic's School. The P&F and school community work very hard to raise the money, however, we may not always know where our funds could be best spent. We would like you to advise your class reps if you have any ideas regarding where we could spend our money. During our next meeting we will be taking all the ideas from the parents plus a wish list from the teachers and ranking them in order of how we should spend any fundraised money. We have a responsibility to get every cent out of your hard earned donations and want it to benefit all year groups. If you would like to bring your idea to our next P&F meeting on Wednesday 22nd March, we would love to see you there. All parents/ caregivers are invited and we were so excited to see two new faces at our last meeting.
