Rubbish Audit - What can we do better?

Back in Week 5 our Year 4 students participated in a Waste Audit conducted by Patrick Hamill from the Waste Wise Authority. The students examined all the waste from the bins located around the school and sorted them into different categories. The results indicated that the most significant waste came from fruit and vegetable scraps (23%), paper and cardboard (21%) and food scraps (18%).

Our plan for the future is to reduce this waste through our recycling, composting and worm farming projects. One way families can help our school reduce waste is to think about using reusable containers, beeswax wraps and reusable sandwich and snack bags instead of cling wrap and snap lock bags.

Thank you Year 4 for conducting this valuable audit.
