In Week Ten of this term, I will be travelling to the Chin Hills of Myanmar to visit the Metta Geha Orphanage and to present a donation from St Dominic’s School. This is my third trip to the orphanage, and this year, staff members Stirling Bovell and Ciara Walsh will join me.

Thank you all for your support of Rice Day. This year we raised over $400, and combined with funds from last year’s book exchange, we will be able to present the Metta Geha community with $1000 to contribute to the educational needs of the children. We will also be purchasing educational games and sporting equipment to present on our arrival.

The children of Metta Geha are beautiful, grateful children, who are short on many of the luxuries that we take for granted, but who are big on smiles and laughter. Despite the poverty and the difficult circumstances, Metta Geha is a place which radiates love. Twi Twi and her husband Stephen run the orphanage like a family and the older children nurture and protect the little ones. I can’t wait to return to see them and to continue forging a connection with the St Dominic’s School community.

We look forward to sharing photos and stories with you and the children when we return and we thank you for your ongoing support.
