St Dominic’s School Choir Aged Care Home Visit

We are approaching the season of Advent, which is a focus in the Religious Education Guidelines. This unit explores ways in which the children can develop their gifts and abilities as they try and live out Jesus’ Commandment to love and help others. A practical way to explore this understanding is to go out into the community, so an excursion has been organised for the children in the school choir. We will visit the residents of the Birralee Aged Care Home and the Bethanie Home. During our time, the children will perform Christmas Carols and interact with the men and women who reside there.

Both visits will take place on Wednesday, 4th December. The students will walk to and from the centres as they are located nearby. Schedule for the day is as follows;

  • Depart school at 10.30am and walk to Birralee (155 Odin Rd, Innaloo)
  • Depart Birralee at 12.15pm and walk to Bethanie (39 Hertha Rd, Innaloo). Children will stop for lunch here.
  • Depart Bethanie at 2.15pm and walk back to school.
  • Children will need to bring lunch and a drink packed in a disposable bag. They will have recess before departing school. No lunch orders for that day please. Due to the mode of transport, the children are asked to wear their sports uniform (grey and white top) on the day.

If you child is in the school choir, a paper copy of the permission slip linked below will be coming home with them today. Please return this slip to myself or your child’s classroom teacher by Monday, 2nd December.
