St Dominic’s School P&F Association Update

Wow the P&F have been off to an amazing start this year busily planning events and organising some fantastic items for the kids. We have an amazing group of motivated parents but there is always room for more. The Parents and Friends Association of St Dominic’s is a very active group that exists to support the Principal and Staff in the activities of the school and to promote a spirit of friendship and cooperation within the school community. The Association organises social functions to build community and coordinates fundraising events to provide additional resources to the school.  Events include sausage sizzles, family get togethers, children’s discos, etc.  We have had over 30 brilliant class reps in the last 3 years help contribute to this plus over a hundred enthusiastic parents jump in and help out. We clearly put the party and fun in P&F…….

We would love to give a massive shout out to Mark Raso who fixed the flying foxes for the kids last week. What a legend! The kids have loved playing on them again.

Keep an eye out for our Welcome Movie Night on the 23rdMarch starting at 4pm. Gemma and the Year 4’s are busily planning a pasta, waterslide, movie night extravaganza! Stayed tuned for more info. This is a free event with food and drinks available to purchase on the night.

In consultation with the school, we voted at our last meeting to purchase new flags to display at faction carnivals, 10kg weighted stands to hold them, plus two additional flags that can be used at interschool meets. When not in use our flags will be displayed around the school and used at other events. We will also be looking a million dollars for our next competitions, which will hopefully give the kids an added confidence boost. They were designed around our news school logo and the interschool athletics singlets. Click here to see the new designs. Total cost $2,090.

On order, is also 100 newly designed swimming caps for our interschool swim team, with a new colour and logo, which will hopefully make them look a lot faster in the water. We will be selling 30 caps to help cover costs.  The caps will be priced at $10 or if your child is in the interschool swim team and you do not wish to purchase one, your child will be able to borrow one for the day. Total cost $655.

To assist Mr Bovell and Mrs Thompson with morning swimming sessions, we are providing the school with the funds to enable the hiring of professional coaches for our interschool training at Scarborough pool.  The coaches will assist the kids with diving, relay changes, stamina and general swimming training. Both ladies are extremely enthusiastic and coaches of the Tuart Hill Swimming Club. All kids from Years 3 – 6 are welcome to come down and learn some new pointers or just have fun! Total cost for 4 weeks – $200.

All of the above could not have happened without the amazing fundraising support of our fantastic group of parents and caregivers. The P&F go to great lengths to make sure every cent you help to raise we spend very carefully, by getting 3 quotes or using our connections. We are so grateful to be able to offer this to the St Dominic’s students and make some great friends doing so along the way.

What a fabulous school – thanks for your support!
