2023 Book Week Fun at St Dominic’s – Parade and Book Exchange

Book Week and The Great Book exchange is coming up in Week 6 and several activities have been planned.  Book Week is an exciting event on the calendar each year.  It will be a great opportunity to celebrate books and have some fun! There will be a parade, a book exchange, and many other engaging activities for the students to enjoy during the week in their classrooms.

Book Week Parade (Parents welcome)

On Tuesday, 22nd of August at 8:50am, St Dominic’s School students will take part in a Book Week Parade in the hall.  The theme for Book Week across Australia this year is ‘Read, Grow, Inspire’

We ask that each child come to school dressed as a character from a book. There will be a small prize for the most creative costume from each class. This is not a compulsory activity so children choosing to not dress up should come dressed in their normal school uniform.

The annual ‘GreatBook Exchange’ will be held on Thursday, 24th August.  We would love each child to bring in a book that they no longer read and is in good, clean condition.  If your child would like to bring in more than one book, we will gladly take all donations for this wonderful event.  All books must be brought into school to your child’s classroom by Monday, 21st August.

Don’t forget to also send along a gold coin donation with your child on Thursday, 24th August, so that they can select a book to bring home.  If they would like to get more than one book, then they will need a gold coin for each book they would like to get.

The money will be donated to the Metta Geha Orphanage in Myanmar. In loving memory of our beloved teacher, Mrs Liz Lofthouse, as a school we continue to commit to supporting the orphanage each year. The money will help purchase school supplies, food and books for the Liz Lofthouse library located in the Chin Hills.

Thank you for supporting this worthy cause.
