2022 Year 6 Camp Final Reminders

Tuesday, 25th October, is the first day of camp!  Not long to go now.  The bus will be departing from the front of the school at 8:30am sharp.  Please ensure you are at school by 8:00am so that we can depart on time and the day will therefore run as planned.  The children’s luggage will need to be clearly labelled and sleeping bags will need to be tied to their bag.  Children may take their pillows on the bus with them.

Staff attending camp this year are Stirling Bovell, Jasmine Crosara, Kasey Wheatley and Leon Bolding.  We are all looking forward to sharing in this wonderful experience with the students, an experience that will hopefully be a highlight of their final weeks with us here at St Dominic’s.

A reminder that if you listed your child as needing a particular medication/s, please hand these to Stirling in a clearly labelled bag/ box as soon as you arrive on Tuesday.  This includes any allergy or pain medication in a clearly labelled bag/ box to be given to us on Tuesday morning.  However, this does not include asthma inhalers, which students can keep on themselves and in their personal bags.

Children will need to bring their own morning tea, drink bottle, towel, bathers, rash vest and change of clothes on Tuesday (departure day) in a small backpack.  The backpack is also necessary, as the students will take it with them on every planned activity.

Children have been asked to bring in roll-on deodorant.  No spray deodorant please, as often it is over-used in the confined dormitory environment.

If for any reason you need to contact camp staff during the week, please call the school office on 9449 6900.  During normal school hours, your call will be answered by office staff as normal, who will then contact a member of the team and ask them to return your call.  If the matter is urgent and contact with a camp staff member is required out of hours, please still call the school office number, as this number will be redirected during these times to a member of the camp staff.

If required, below are also the details of the campsite where the children will be staying and the mobile number of All Aboard Coach Tours.

Inline with newly updated CEWA/ Public Health directives, COVID-19 planning has been undertaken by camp staff.  The health, safety and pastoral care of all students and staff when determining the appropriate course of action, is the teams highest priority.  Please note the following points.

  • Staff and students who test positive to COVID-19 prior to departure are not permitted to attend camp; they should stay home until their symptoms resolve.  Arrangements can then be discussed with regards to joining the camp at a later stage.
  • Staff and students are not required to provide proof of a negative RAT prior to departure.
  • Where a student is identified as a close contact prior to departure, a discussion with school staff will need to be held prior to participation.
  • A supply of masks and RATs will be on hand during the camp.
  • If a student is unwell and symptomatic for COVID-19, consultation will take place with you to gain permission for the issuing of a RAT to your child.
  • Where a child tests positive to COVID-19 while on camp, determinations for your child’s appropriate health care will be made in consultation with you.  This may include you being asked to collect your child from camp.
  • Additional staff are on standby to join the camp, if a member of the team becomes unwell.

Finally, to give you a little glimpse in to what your children get up to each day, we have put together a photo album that staff will add to throughout the week.  Click on the link below regularly throughout the week to see the latest photos.
