Mystery of the Mathematical Menace Family Event (Year 2-6)

You are invited to the Mystery of the Mathematical Menace, a fun interactive event that engages parents/carers and students in mathematical puzzles as part of the Lighthouse Maths Program, extended to your school by Scitech and proudly supported by Chevron.

Date: Monday, 28th August 2023

Time: 4pm – 5:30pm

Venue: St Dominic’s School Hall

Year Levels:  Year 2 to 6

Mystery of the Mathematical Menace is a free event with an emphasis on problem-solving, collaboration, and creativity – skills your child has developed through the Lighthouse Maths classroom teaching. Come along to enjoy an exciting evening of maths activities and work with your child(ren) to solve some maths puzzles, gather clues and catch the culprit!

It can take anywhere from 20 to 80 minutes to solve all the problems; it is ideal that you arrive promptly at the beginning of the session as the Scitech facilitator ‘sets the scene’, but you do not need to stay for the whole time.

Families will receive some take home materials, including:

  • an answer booklet and pencil to record your clues
  • a booklet of ideas on how to have everyday conversations about maths, with accompanying playing cards and dice
  • a special prize for all participating children who solve the mystery and catch the culprit.

Please RSVP by completing the form linked below.
