Year 3 Sacrament of First Reconciliation Further Details

Please see the following information outlining further details for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.  Please note that all the information below and the materials outlined were provided to families at the conclusion of last weeks parent workshop.

Date: Thursday 3rd November 2022
Time: 6:00pm
Venue: St Dominic’s Church

Please meet at the church no later than 5:45pm.

Children are to wear their ‘Sunday best’, plus their sash and badge.

A sash, badge and pin accompanied the letter provided last Thursday night. The sash is worn from the right shoulder down to the left hip. The badge is to be sewn at the higher end of the sash, as over the next few years, another two badges for First Eucharist and Confirmation will be added. The pin is also to be worn on the sash.

Children will be processing into the Church during the first hymn. During the ceremony, the children will be sitting with their families in allocated pews.

After the examination of conscience, the children will move to the priests, who will be seated at the front of the church on the altar, one by one to receive the Sacrament. Parents will take them to one of the priests and then return to their seats. Parents, family and friends are welcome and encouraged to receive the Sacrament themselves; it is a good opportunity to model for the children. We ask that you help us to maintain a silent, reverent and prayerful atmosphere during the Sacrament. We will play reflective music while you wait.

Those students who are not receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation are very welcome to join us for this celebration.

Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
