Year 3 and 4 Excursion to Perth Zoo

On Monday, 30th of August, the Year 3 and 4 classes will be going on an excursion to Perth Zoo.  Both classes will be participating in a lesson organised by the zoo and complete activities in small groups.  The experience will help students develop key understandings in Geography, Science and English. This term, both classes are exploring report writing.  Throughout the day, students will take notes as they observe the animals and use these notes back at school to write an information report.

A timetable for the day is as follows:

8:45am – Depart St Dominic’s

9:30am – Arrive at Perth Zoo

9:45am – Perth Zoo lesson ‘Asian Trek’

10:30am – Recess break and play

11:00am – Activities in small groups

12:00pm – Lunch break and play

12:30pm – Activities in small groups

2:00pm – Depart Perth Zoo

2:30pm – Arrive at St Dominic’s

For this excursion to take place, we are seeking parent helpers to support a small group of students throughout the day and assist them in completing a small number of activities.  Year 3 will require 3 parent helpers, and Year 4 will require 2 parent helpers. Parent helpers are asked to meet us at 8:30am for a briefing and will travel with us by bus to and from the excursion.  An online Parent Volunteer Form is linked below.

Students will need to wear their sports uniforms (grey tops) and bring their school hats.  They may like to bring a small backpack to carry their drink bottles, or they can carry it by hand.  Please provide your child with their morning tea and lunch in a clearly labelled plastic bag as we will be placing these in plastic tubs.  Students WILL NOT be able to buy any food or drinks at the Perth Zoo.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
