With Mason Berg our previous canteen manager finishing up at the end of 2020, we have been considering some alternative options for our community over the school holidays. At this stage, a new canteen manger has not been appointed, so until further notice the canteen will be closed.
One alternative we have been considering, is engaging with an external company called LunchBox. LunchBox has been recommended by several Catholic schools in our area, all of whom spoke very highly of the service. One of the biggest positives expressed by these schools was the ability to provide lunch order options for their students five days a week, something they were unable to viably do themselves via a school run onsite canteen. LunchBox cooks and prepares food daily at their West Perth commercial kitchen and then transports the items to the school in commercial food grade transport boxes. Upon arrival, staff transport the items to the classroom where they are distributed to students before they head out to lunch. Orders are entered and payed for by families online via the companies purpose built website. Before making a decision regarding engaging with LunchBox, the company has offered to provide our parents/caregivers with an opportunity to trial some of the options listed on the attached menu. We have organised for this to take place in the undercover area next Thursday during our Parent Information Night. The LunchBox staff on hand will also be there to answer any questions you may have about their service. So get there early and sample the wide variety of healthy food options they have to offer (Refer to the Parent Information Night Schedule for specific times).
Following the Parent Information Night and after seeking community feedback, a decision will be made regarding the direction in which we go with our school canteen in 2021. We hope to have something in place by Week 5, Term 1.
