Interschool Cross Country Carnival Wrap up – Most Improved Winners in 2020

On a hot Spring’s day, students from Year 2 to 6 participated in the Interschool Cross Country Carnival today at Light St Reserve in Dianella. This year’s Cross Country was scheduled for Term 2, however, with Covid, it was postponed until Term 4. It was once again great to be out participating with other schools from our region.

Before I get into congratulations, I’d like to thank the following people:

  • To Mr Bovell for helping out with training
  • To Mr Bolding, Mr Sullivan and Miss Matrenza for coming along on the day and supervising our students
  • To Mrs Elliss, Mrs Anderson, Mrs Dyer and Mr Doyle for being course marshals on the day

Congratulations to all students who ran on the day. Running long distance is never easy. I know that our students gave it their all and never stopped throughout. An extra special mention to the Year 2 girls who stepped up to run in the Year 3 girls race. What an effort!

I’m very proud to say that for the second time this year, we won the most improved shield, which is a great achievement. Definitely something to build on in the coming years. We also placed 4th overall. Well done, St Dominic’s! A special mention must go to the following students for placing in their races:

Luke O’Donnell – A very close 2nd in the Year 3 boys race

James Dyer- 1st place in the Year 5 boys race

Martin Segnini- 4th place in the Year 5 boys race

Olivia Hildebrandt- A very close 2nd place in the Year 6 girls race

Benjamin Dabbs- 3rd place in the Year 6 boys race

Talan George- 4th place in the Year 6 boys race

Again, congratulations to all of our runners on the day. You did St Dominic’s proud and should be pleased with your efforts.

I thoroughly look forward to building on our great results next year.
