On Tuesday 27th May, our Pre-Primary and Year 1 students were thrilled to welcome some very special visitors — the Teddy Hospital Doctors! These doctors-in-training from the University of Western Australia brought along their stethoscopes and smiles for a wonderful hands-on experience.
Each child brought their favourite teddy to be “checked over” in a fun and supportive setting. While waiting for their appointments, students coloured in and filled out their ‘Teddicare’ Cards, just like in a real waiting room! They also shared stories about their own experiences of visiting the doctor.
Once called in, the Teddy Doctors performed gentle physical check-ups on the teddies, issued pretend prescriptions, and even applied some bandages where needed — all from the ‘Nurse’s Station’. Outside, the fun continued with active games like ‘What’s the Time Doctor Teddy?’ and ‘Apple, Apple, Banana’.
This engaging and thoughtful incursion helped to ease fears and build confidence about visiting doctors or hospital settings. A huge thank you to the Teddy Hospital team for helping us all feel a little braver and a lot more informed!
