Dear Families,
As we come towards the end of term, I want to take a moment to address an important topic: student safety during arrival and dismissal times.
We have noticed some growing concerns in our Kiss and Ride area, as well as along the surrounding streets and sidewalks. I kindly ask all families to be extra mindful and follow the safety guidelines to ensure that every child arrives and leaves school safely.
A few important reminders:
🚗 Kiss and Ride Safety
- Please where possible, remain in your vehicle and pull all the way forward to keep traffic moving.
- Always drive slowly and be prepared to stop for children crossing.
🚲 Bike Riders
- Students riding bikes must wear helmets—this is both a legal requirement and a critical safety measure.
- Please remind your children to walk their bikes across intersections and on school grounds.
🚶♂️ Walkers
- Talk with your children about using designated crosswalks/paths and obeying crossing guidelines.
- Avoid distractions like phones or headphones while walking near roads.
- Younger children should always walk with an adult.
I also would like to remind parents that when using Kiss and Ride, it is not suitable to perform a “Right-hand turn” when departing the driveway. The street has a median strip which indicates cars should turn left only.
We all share the responsibility of keeping our students safe. A few extra moments of caution can prevent accidents and set a great example for our children.
Thank you for your ongoing support and for making safety a top priority in our community.
Warm regards,
Mr Sheldon Carey
Principal
