Principal’s Message

Dear St Dominic’s Primary School Community Members,

It is with great pleasure I welcome you all back to the 2026 school year. I especially extend a warm welcome to all our new families joining us this year. I pray that everyone’s Christmas was filled with much joy as you celebrated the birth of Our Lord and that the New Year is full of blessings for you all.

We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their full potential. We recognise that to be successful in school, all children need support from both the home and school. We know a strong partnership with you will make a great difference in your child’s education. Pope Leo, along with his predecessors, maintained that parents are the first, primary, and most important educators of their children. We the school, play the secondary but extremely important role of supporting parents as they fulfil their endeavours to educate their children.

We all have many varied and different talents, when school and home work together closely our children have a much better opportunity to excel in their education and maximise their gifts. I am ever reminded of the wise words of Catherine McCauley “God does not bestow all His choicest blessings on one person. He did not give to St. Peter what He gave to St. Paul nor to either what He gave to St. John.” We all have different blessings and gifts, let us all strive to nurture the gifts we have and use them for others.

Teachers have been very busy preparing their classrooms and curriculum for the new academic year. I take this opportunity to again extend a warm welcome to Mr Benjamin Comito and Ms Georgia Deluca, who join our school staff. We are very excited to have both Ben and Georgia coming onboard and joining our wonderful team this year. It has been great to see all our staff return to St Dominic’s and their enthusiasm and commitment to providing an outstanding learning community.

I would like to personally invite you to attend our Welcome Picnic on Friday 6th February. This special event has been organised by our wonderful P&F and will commence at 5:00pm.  I am looking forward to seeing as many families there as possible at this wonderful gathering of community. My sincere gratitude to our P&F for their hard work in organising this event.

I wish to thank you all in advance for ensuring your children always attend school in their correct school uniform. We are very proud of our uniform here at St Dominic’s and the link it provides to our Dominican heritage. A reminder to also ensure personal grooming standards are high and children are presented in accordance with school policies. I thank you in advance for your diligence regarding this matter.

As part of the refinement of our school processes, the Newsletter will be moving to a fortnightly publication. All relevant information and associated online links are always available via the newsletter and our class communication channels. I strongly encourage you to keep abreast of all important information.

Once again welcome back to the new school year, may God bless each and every one of you and may 2026 be filled with many joys and successes for us all.

Yours in Christ

Sheldon Carey
