Dear Parents and Carers,
As we move further into the term, our students and staff have commenced preparing for the upcoming NAPLAN assessments. NAPLAN provides one snapshot of student achievement in literacy and numeracy and offers data that may inform teaching and learning. Our staff work diligently to ensure students feel confident and supported as they approach these assessments.
However, it is important to remember that NAPLAN represents just one small aspect of assessment data. At our Catholic school, teachers draw on a rich range of evidence — classroom observations, formative and summative assessments, student work samples, conversations, and daily learning experiences — to build a comprehensive understanding of each child. We know that children are far more than a test score. Their gifts, talents, creativity, faith development, resilience, kindness, and individual learning journeys cannot be measured by a single assessment. Our teachers know your children deeply and value the whole child in every sense.
I am also pleased to share that our swimming programme has been successfully completed. The students demonstrated enthusiasm, perseverance and growth in their water confidence and skills. Thank you to our staff and families for supporting this important learning opportunity.
It has been wonderful to see many of our families participating in the Sacramental Enrolment Masses within the parish. These celebrations mark an important step in our students’ faith journeys, and we continue to keep them in our prayers as they prepare to receive the Sacraments.
Finally, I wish to advise that I will be taking Long Service Leave from 5 March to 16 March. During this time, Mrs Phillips will serve as Short Term Principal. I thank Mrs Phillips for her leadership and know that the school will be in very capable hands during my absence.
Thank you, as always, for your continued partnership in supporting the learning and wellbeing of our students.
Yours in Christ,
Mr Sheldon Carey
Principal
