Staffing Update

Below are several staffing updates that I would like to share with the school community.

Fiona Glumac – As you may be aware, Fiona Glumac, St Dominic’s substantive Assistant Principal, has been on maternity leave for the past three years.  During this time we have had both Jemma Davis and Alex Paljetak in Acting Assistant Principal roles.  Following recent communications with Fiona, I am writing to share that she has decided to resign from her role here at St Dominic’s.  Fiona and her family are currently living in Tasmania, where she has been teaching at a local primary school.

We thank Fiona for all that she has done for our school community and wish her all the very best for the future over in Tasmania.

Kylie Phillips – With Fiona stepping down from her role, the substantive ongoing Assistant Principal role was advertised and an appointment process was undertaken.  This process was recently finalised, with the panel appointing Mrs Kylie Phillips to the ongoing role.  Kylie will be joining us from Hammond Park Catholic Primary School, where she has had a number of leadership opportunities.

Kylie is very excited about commencing in her new role and can’t wait to meet our students, staff and families.  I look forward to introducing you to Kylie in the not to distant future.

Jemma Davis –  As you may have known, Jemma Davis was seconded to the Assistant Principal role this year at St Joseph’s School, Boulder.  Following a recent conversation with Jemma, she expressed that she is really enjoying the role and country life, and has decided to accept an ongoing Assistant Principal position at St Joseph’s commencing in 2022.  Sadly this means she has resigned from her position here at St Dominic’s.  As much as it would be great to have Jemma returning to us next year, it is a wonderful opportunity for her to continue developing as a leader in our system.  I am sure our paths will cross with hers again down the track.

Alex Paljetak – For family reasons, Alex made the decision not to apply for the ongoing Assistant Principal role here at St Dominic’s, and will be returning to his substantive teaching role at St Pius X next year.  St Pius X is very close to where Alex lives, so without the daily commute, he will be able to spend more time with baby Sammy and his wife.

Alex has certainly brought a lot to the St Dominic’s community over the past two years, and will be missed by students, staff and families a like.  I wish Alex all the very best for his return to St Pius X next year and for the leadership roles that I am sure await him down the track.

Alicia Matrenza – Next year, Alicia will be moving to Karratha to begin a two year contract at St Paul’s Catholic Primary School.  As a young teacher, this is a wonderful opportunity for Alicia to broaden her experiences and explore all that country life has to offer.  Alicia will again be someone truly missed by our school community, however, I wish her all the very best with this upcoming experience.  You never know she may be back with us following the completion of her two year contract!
