Sunbeams Program (Kindy to Year 1)

This term, Mrs Ford is hoping to commence a program called Sunbeams, for students in Kindy, Pe Primary and Year 1.  The Sunbeams Program is similar to the Rainbows program run for our Year 2 to Year 6 students.

What is the Sunbeams Program?

Sunbeams is for children who have experienced or are experiencing a significant change or loss in their life, for example: the death of a loved one, family breakdown, illness or disability in their family, family relocation and in some circumstances fly in/fly out arrangements.

The Sunbeams program aims at giving children an opportunity to work through their grief. It aims to help them sort through confusion, deal with feelings, regain self-esteem and get on with being a child. It is peer driven and facilitated by Mrs Ford as group leader.

The Sunbeams program will be conducted with small groups of children of similar ages and consists of weekly sessions.  Sessions last for 30 minutes and are conducted during school hours.  The program will commence on Monday, 2nd September.

Parents would be expected to attend a group meeting with their child/ren before the program commences so that they can support their child?  This is an investment of about thirty minutes to an hour and would take place on the afternoon of Monday, 2nd September.

For further information about the program, please contact Mrs Ford via email – gill.ford@cewa.edu.au.  If you feel this program may be for your child, please complete the online application form below by Friday, 30th August.
