Year 3 to 6 Swimming Carnival Information and Reminders

Please find attached to this communication the program for the 2021 Faction Swimming Carnival, which will be held at Claremont Swimming Pool on Thursday, 4th March, from 10am.  Please check this carefully and get in touch with me if you have any queries and I will cross check against the information I have via the form you filled out. Next week, I will send out the program with approximate race times and lane numbers once Timing Solutions have sent it to me.

Swimming Carnival Program

Some things to note for the day:

  • Students will receive a ribbon for the event in which they race.  Champion Boy/ Girl will be based on heat times in 50m events excluding Open Butterfly.  Interschool selection will be based on 50m events, as well as 100m events.  25m events will go towards faction points.
  • Students are not allowed to request to be in other races on the day of the carnival.  The events in the program are final.  I will have the information parents provided on the Microsoft Form available to me on the day to cross check.
  • This year, we will have a chief judge watching all races.  Their job will be to adjudicate all races.  Students will be taken through this information the day prior to the carnival.
  • If you have put your name down to help, I will get in touch with you on Tuesday next week with information about your role on the day.
  • For some of the 25m races, I have had to mix year groups to avoid having only one or two students in races.  Students will be awarded points for their faction and given ribbons according to where they finished in their year level.  I have put students in Year 3 & 4 together, and students in Year 5 & 6 together where possible.
  • A break for lunch will be had after the under/ over races.  Students can eat their morning tea throughout the day.
  • We will have the Teachers vs Parents vs Students race this year.  If you haven’t already trained, please do so in the next week.
  • On the day of the carnival, photos or videos should not be taken during races.  You will be allowed to take photos of your child before and after the race if you wish.

Please find a link attached to the initial communication that was sent out about the swimming carnival earlier in the term.
