Year 5 and 6 Tennis and Cricket Day Information

Year 5 and 6 Tennis and Cricket Day

Friday 27th March 2020

Abbett Park and Scarborough Tennis Club

All Year 6’s and some Year 5’s will be participating in an Inter-school Tennis and Cricket tournament on Friday, 27th March, at Abbett Park and Scarborough Tennis Club.

St Dominic’s will field one boys and one girls Tennis team, as well as one boys and one girls Cricket team. Year 6 students get first preference on what sport they want to play. Year 5 students have been selected based on the skills and attitude they have displayed in cricket lessons throughout the term. I will notify students of the team at the beginning of Week 7. Students will be accompanied by Mr Bovell and Mr Paljetak and one other teacher.

Tennis will be played with “red ball rules”, as per the ANZ Hot Shots program, and the Cricket will be played as per the Milo T20 Blast. Both game versions are designed to include players of all abilities and give students the chance to incorporate the Tennis and Cricket skills they have been practising during school sport lessons in the previous weeks.

What to bring:

  • Medication that students bring to school themselves
  • Grey St Dominic’s sport shirt
  • Hat
  • Water Bottle
  • Recess and lunch

There are no canteen facilities at the venue.

Students should arrive at school at the normal time on Friday, 27th March. They will be transported by bus to and from Abbett Park. The bus will leave St Dominic’s at 9:15am and leave Abbett Park at 2:15pm.

If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to get in contact with me.
