On Monday, 2nd of November, St Dominic’s held the annual ‘Raise Your Voice’ Competition with students from St John’s in Scarborough.  The event is an opportunity for students in Year 5 and 6 to practice their Public Speaking skills in front of an audience.  Students selected from St Dominic’s were:
Josie M
Arya S
Kari W
Talan G
Mitchell S
Olivia H
Students were allowed to choose any topic to speak about and were allowed to use props to support their speech. Â Each speech ran for 3 minutes on a variety of topics which included the need to wear bicycle helmets, gender equality, school uniforms and childishness, just to name a few.
Overall, we could not have been prouder of the way our students conducted themselves on the day. Â Public speaking is never easy. Â Our students handled themselves so well and were cool, calm and collected throughout.
A congratulations must go to Arya S in Year 5 for winning the Year 5 trophy for her passionate speech on Gender Equality.
Please find below a link to photos of our students with their certificates and trophy.
