Staffing Update – Semester 2 Italian Teacher

Over many years, along with other WA Catholic primary schools, St Dominic’s has partnered with the Italo-Australian Welfare & Cultural Centre, to ensure qualified and experienced teachers provide our students in Year 1 to 6 with the curriculum content aligned to this specialist area.

Unfortunately, due to health-related circumstances outside of everyone’s control, there have been several Italian teacher changes during Semester 1.

Initially, Nancy Iacobelli was appointed by Italo as our Italian teacher in 2022.  Unfortunately, Nancy had to undergo surgery prior to the commencement of Term 1 and Lorella Crugnale was appointed as the temporary teacher in Nancy’s absence.

In Term 2, after recovering from surgery, Nancy commenced her role at St Dominic’s, teaching the students during Term 2 and completing the Semester 1 reports for all students.  However, in Week 8, she once again had to undergo a further medical procedure, which lead to her being unable to continue as our Italian teacher.  Lorella was once again appointed as the temporary teacher for the final weeks of Term 2.

During the school holiday break, we were informed by Italo that Nancy would not be returning to St Dominic’s in Term 3 and that Lorella had been appointed as the ongoing teacher of Italian at St Dominic’s for the remainder of the school year.

Although Lorella has been part of the St Dominic’s staff for short periods of time, I would like to officially welcome her to St Dominic’s and wish her all the very best for the second half of the school year.  In recent conversations with Lorella, I know that one of her key goals is to inspire and further develop the students love and knowledge of the Italian language and culture.

If throughout the remainder of the school year you have any questions about the Italian learning area or your child’s progress, please contact Lorella via the admin@stdominics.wa.edu.au email address.

Please also keep Nancy in your thoughts and prayers as she recovers from her most recent operation.
